Elusive Onederland

Recommended Posts

For the past few weeks I have been hovering in the low 200's with the exception of a week where I got sick and ended up gaining weight. On Monday 12/21 I was 200.2 lbs....

I'm so close to Onederland - but my period is due on 12/26 and my weight is up to 201.8 today. I'm following the program, and I know this is temporary, but my goal was to be be under 200 by New Years.

It can still be done...it's just SOOOOO CLOSE. I haven't weighed this low since high school. In fact, I can't ever remember being this low as an adult. I remember being in the 220's and thinking how big I was....I never imagined getting up to 295.

I know it's strange, but seeing the "1" as the first number just holds a lot of meaning for me. Really, I don't think physically I will feel any differently at 199 than I did at 200.2 but MENTALLY it means everything.

Thanks for listening & Merry Christmas!

@@Margie122 - I totally get what you are saying and you are officially a scale junkie. I am a card toting member too. Keep hydrating and getting that Protein in even though its nearing that time of the month. Watch really close the salt content and get outside if you can and walk, eat Protein only, rake leaves, drink Water, shovel snow, drink some more Water, build a snowman (sorry I live in Fl)

IT WILL HAPPEN {ONEderland}

:)

Jane13 - I'm near Boston and we are having record temps...will be 68 on Christmas Eve so I might be grilling outside in shorts and a t-shirt. According to the weather guys/gals up here it's NOT Global Warming (so I don't have to feel guilty for loving the warm weather) it's el nino.

Salt - I love it and I do need to watch it, so thanks for the reminder! Onederland here I come!

Don't you just hate that? I swear I stalled for like 2 weeks right before I hit onederland. And the scale was bouncing all around it before.

It loves to play with our emotions.

@@Margie122 - you have lost more than I have but my doctor would like me to lose about another 30-35lbs so we are tracking about the same. I weighed 282 in Jan/Feb of last year and I have been on every holiday challenge and have yet to hit my goal. My current goal is 179 but I am hovering around 184. My hope is to hit 182 (-100) at least by 12/31/15...so I am right there with you. I will be raking, drinking Water, taking down decorations, eating Protein, cleaning/organizing, drinking Water the next few days....see a similar pattern?

WE got this - 1-2lbs by the 31st!!!!

I'm right there with you! My goal is 199 by New Year's and I'm at 203.8. It's been 17 years since I was in onederland and I'm so ready to be back! Just keep working. We'll get there!

Babbs - thanks for the encouragement

Jane13 - hijack away - no worries!

borg/assimilated - yes I will get there eventually I know :)

jjmama - we can do it!

Even if I don't hit Onederland, I have still gone down from a size 22 to a 16 and that is pretty darn good.

@@Margie122

You will get there! I promise!

You and I are the same height and have the same goal! I a, just under 10 pounds away and I have been stuck for a couple weeks now.

I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that my body makeup is changing a lot.

I have become very Boney all over and part of me is now in the mindset that losing much more is not a good thing for me given I plan to have some plastics done in the areas where I have a lot of loose skin.

I am definitely second guessing my goal at this point but whatever happens happens. So, I have been staying off the scale the last few days.

You will definitely get to onederland, unfortunately that fluctuation always drives you mad. Once you are down to 195 you will never see that crappy 2 number again.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

I am right there with you! Been 'stuck' at 203 for a couple of weeks and really wanting my weight to fall below 200. We know it will, right? Patience, sticking with the plan, etc, etc.

Here's to new and better bodies in the new year!!

I'm right with you girls. I get to 199 and stay there for 3-4 days , then it is back to 202 or even 203. Up and down, up and down. Can't wait to get under 200 and stay there. It has been 15 or more years since I was at the number.

So do you have an update? I hovered on 200.2 - and over for weeks before I finally hit 197 all of a sudden!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
