Does anyone have a written guarantee of the afterservices offered by their surgeon?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am struggling with the fact that I have twice contacted my clinic to ask about what guarantee I will have - in writing - as to what is covered by the 16K I am spending. I was told it would be faxed to me. Instead, I recieved a one page consent that didn't specify anything that was included. I know the website states that lifetime fills are covered, and the nurse told me that removal would be covered, but shouldn't I expect to have this in writing BEFORE I send in my final payment? The nurse told me what was covered, but 4 years from now I don't want to be arguing with someone on the phone about something a nurse told me years before. I am not a stupid woman, so I am surprised that they would think that I would just send $16,000 in the mail with nothing in writing that would stand up in court as to what I was paying for. What have other people gotten???????? Am I the only one concerned about this?

I am a self pay and I did not get a guarantee as to what services would be covered after the fact. However, I know that in Canada, the surgeon is obligated to treat you after the operate on you. My surgeon requires payment 2 weeks in advance, because if I don't pay and he operates anyway... he has to care for me despite the fact I did not pay. (Meaning after care and fills.) He gets payment to protect himself...or I'd be alittle richer...naw...I'd pay...damn...I am too ethical!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
