Stupid PCP

Recommended Posts

I have been waiting a week now for my pcp to write my insurance company a letter of consent. The first one he sent them was a faxed copy of a prescription and all it said was "Ok for surgery". Can you believe that crap?? I called yesterday and his nurse said she would check and call me back...havent heard didly.

Should I call today and nag them? My insurance company is changing and I have to have this done by the end of the year!!

Update!!

I called and his receptionist is a Biznotch! She is all "you gotta be seen for him to write it"...I started complaining that no one told me this and she says "oh, I see that he has dictated a letter but its not back from the transcriptionist"....I ask how long that takes...she says she will leave a message w/transcription and have them rush it for me @@. She is prolly just telling me that cause I was MAD!

I am so frustrated.

Jen, please try to stay on good terms with your PCP and his office. They are vital in helping you. Are you positive that your insurance company covers the adjustable lapband procedure?

My PCP closes at noon on Fridays. I know you're in a hurry to get this done, but you need to take time to research and learn as much as you can about it before getting one!! My insurance initially denied my claim, I appealed, and 8 months later got my band. But they're all different. Best of luck to you!

Yes, I am sure they cover it. My surgeons bariatric coordinator said that my insurance basically approved it but they need a few things first such as the letter for a final say so. She said as soon as I get the letter I should have a surgery date a few days after.

I dont care for my PCP anyways. Last time I seen him I called and told them my ear hurt and I had a few other things to discuss with him. Just a small list of concerns, nothing major and he refused to talk to me about my knees cause they only fit me in for a 10 minute time slot. He told me to make another appt...didnt even say he was sorry...just rushed out of the room. I cried all the way home just becasue I felt like he didnt care. I had no idea they put their patients in a time slot.

Jen,

If you go to www.obesityhelp.com you can get a letter of medical necessity where the doc only has to fill in the blanks. Thats what I gave my PCP and told him to use that letter and just add whatever else he felt was relevant. The problem is the doc

s dont do their own correspondence and unless you make it easy for them, it will take more time than you want. Just a suggestion...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
