Protein keeps you full and satisfied longer. So yes, it's possible that's why you're hungry.

If you're not having Protein, what are you eating?

The surgery isn't supposed to be magic. You have to put the work in to be successful. That means following the rules....protein first, lots of fluids, no processed sugar or carbs and moving more. You do those things 90% of the time, it will work.

Too many carbs. Starchy carbs cause cravings and hunger. Did you say you were 63 days out? Can you have lean Proteins like fish, chicken and beef? They will keep you satisfied much longer.

I just been eating mashed potatoes or grits veggies. I know the surgery is not magic I wanted something different besides a Protein drink and Water I don't do sugar any thing like that and I don't eat after 8 pm.

Oh my. Just like Babbs said, you're eating too many carbs so of course you'll be feeling hungry. Carbs cause carb cravings and not eating Protein is going to make it even worse. Protein is absolutely the first thing you eat and should be the large portion of any meal for the rest of your life.

It doesn't matter if you aren't eating sugar. Simple carbs like potatoes or grits act just like sugar in your body and the more you eat them, the more you'll want to eat them.

And not eating enough protein will really screw you up - your body will start burning muscle instead of fat, your skin and hair will suffer and the fatigue will get worse... not eating your protein is just all around super bad.

chicken, fish, beef, low carb yogurt, cottage cheese, regular cheeses, high protein/low carb milk (like Fairlife or Mootopia), Beans (refried are awesome with a bit of cheese and/or sour cream)... there are so many things you could be eating that are way better for you.

Your sleeve isn't the issue; it isn't the problem - your food choices are.

Please do the reading and research on here for good protein meals and recipes, as you are heading down the wrong road right now, but you can turn this around if you're willing to try. Good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
