Anyone else have a giant lump under one incision site? It's the biggest incision site. It feels like I'm incubating an egg in there. I wonder what will hatch...

You could have an infection developing. Recommend calling your surgeon ASAP.

How long post op are you? Could be infection, could be a hematoma. I would absolutely call your surgeon.

I have an incision that's a little bit harder than the others, but it feels like scar tissue. Anything bigger than that I would call you surgeon, just for peace of mind.

Thanks all- I'll email the dr. I'm two weeks out. I really don't think it's infected- it looks lie it's healing really well and isn't hot or painful. I'm guessing there are internal stitches. But, I'll email just in case. Thanks!

I also had a couple lumps in my two largest incisions where the skin simply didn't lay flat. But I'm nearly six months out and it's smooth again.

I have a lump above my belly button incision. It's very hard. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery and my surgeon opened it up and drained it. Very painful! It's still draining and I hope it starts healing soon and doesn't get worse. He had me on antibiotics last week, so I guess I don't need anymore. Keep a eye on it. I noticed my lump a few weeks after surgery and it wasn't until 4 weeks out it started to turn red and hurt.

I have one incision site that has a bump too but my doctor wasn't concerned. I wound up on antibiotics anyway at not quite two weeks post op. Got a urinary tract infection from the catheter. Ugh!

That's awful! I feel your pain- the OR Antibiotics during surgery gave me a yeast infection. So not fun.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
