Feel sick all the time

Recommended Posts

I am having the hardest time getting Fluid or food down and feel sick all the time. Regretting this big time. I am four weeks post op bypass. This is horrible. I thought it was supposed to better my life! Not make it worse!

Have you talked to your dr? Are you still on liquids? I'm trying to transition to puréed food and it's not going well! So I went back to Protein Shakes for the weekend.

Most people have that "OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE" phase where everything is difficult and it feels like far more pain and effort than it is worth. Speaking as someone who is a little over three months out, I promise you, it will get better. Most likely very soon. Your body has been through an enormous trauma and it's still reeling from that. Give yourself and it some time to adjust and heal. Keep thinking about why you did this in the first place. Try to stay positive. :)

@@Cervidae thank you! I did have some complications after the surgery, but I think my anxiety is the worst part. I have headaches all day and I am dizzy and feel like my heart is racing like a horse! Scares me!!

@@cjd2010 i know it's hard in the beginning. I felt so much like that for the first couple of months, and recently (like the past two weeks or so) I suddenly don't feel exhausted randomly, or dizzy, or any of the other things I was feeling. upping your Water intake will help a LOT. 64 ounces is the minimum, and people rarely get that much. but for heavier people and people who have had wls, we need far more than that. I actually used a water intake calculator to see how much I should be drinking at 320 pounds and it's 1.7 gallons (217 ounces). No way can I get all that in, but damn it if I haven't been trying! Since getting more water in, I feel much better. Hang in there. ^_^

if it's mostly right after you eat, it could be a stricture. Otherwise, maybe dehydration? Lactose intolerance? Hard to tell. I'd call my surgeon's office and let them know.

I felt like that also right after surgery. I felt OK if I was sitting, but as soon as I got up, my heart would start to race and I just felt week. I was having a hard time drinking plain Water. I had a little bit of diluted apple juice but then I also started drinking some gatorade. That helped a lot!

I totally had the OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE week.

It does get better. The panic attacks get worse for awhile, but they too pass.

In the end, it is totally worth it.

I would call the doc as well. Just to rule some things out. But I agree with most that you'll be feeling better soon. Good luck! ☺

You are not alone. I went through a tough time 4-6 weeks after rny like yours. It turned out to be nothing but I did have to return to liquid diet for a while. Check with your doc to be sure all is well. If so, you'll be fine in no time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
