Looking for sleeve partner 11/23

Checking in!

I spent 12 hours at the ER a few days ago due to dehydration. I had an indescribable pain on my left side. It hurt every single time I inhaled.

I didn't want to take pain meds - but had no choice.

I seem to be doing a lot better. I'm eating creamy Soups, yogurt and cottage cheese. Being able to add variety to my diet has made me so much happier.

I have diabetes . . . so my blood sugar has been SUPER LOW . . . and I'm frustrated that my doctors have not given me specific instructions about how to handle this because I can't eat!

Also, I'm on a host of meds that require food when eating. So if I can't eat, what do I do? Doctors have been vague with their instructions.

I have a dietician appointment next week.

I know it's early, but how much have you all lost? I'm 12 lbs down.

My blood sugar numbers are staying high and I dont understand that because the only sugar I have had was in the Creamer in hubbys coffee I sipped one day. They prepared me and told me what meds to stop when it got low during pre op diet....never got low and still isnt. I am down 37 pounds all together since starting.

In sorry, I stalled for a couple of days and then started loosing again. From seeing a lot about stalls I think they just happen and are our bodies way of adjusting.

You're right. I took a look around . . .and this seems to be the norm. I really need to learn more patience.

I'm happy to say that I think I'm FINALLY starting to feel better. I think it's safe to say that the hardest part of our journey is almost done guys! The psychological effect that food had on me was unbelievable. I found myself crying and actually MOURNING food some days. But now that I have graduated to a few regular foods and realize that I can only eat what my sleeve allows - my mental hunger days are limited. I want to try my best to stay off of the scale. I just want to concentrate on learning what I can and cannot tolerate and MAYBE try to weigh in about once a week.

Some of the tips that my dietician shared with me - I'd love to share with you!

* Stay hydrated

* If it's rubbery, don't eat it

* chew, chew, chew, chew, chew

* slow down

* do not drink while eating. wait at least 30 after

* don't deprive yourself of seasoning your food well.

* If you start to feel full or nauseated, don't force yourself

More later.

PS- I started out at 250. I'm now 235.5

CHECK IN FAMILY! :)

How is everyone doing?

I was sleeved on the 23rd. I have an angry incision still so I've been dealing with that. I'm down 27lbs though! Anyone have a go to food right now? I need ideas.

5 more days and I start soft food. I am so scared. I have actually been loving puree and would just stay right here if I could!! I am still stalling and not liking it :( Hopefully soon it kicks back in. Hopefully they release me to the gym the 30th.

I'm down 37 lbs... and I'm finally starting to really feel back to "normal". I've been using my fitness pal app to help me... if you haven't used it before, you should look into it. It's awesome.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
