Pre-op Dieters, check in!

Recommended Posts

Day 1 is down for me. Actually easier than I had imagined. Afternoon was hard with head hunger - but I really wasn't ever hungry for real...I just WANTED to eat certain foods.

Cheers to everyone else as you begin!

Well, I'm on my pre pre op diet. I'm trying to lose 20 more pounds before my surgery date and that will include the two weeks of fluids only. I'm down 13 so far.

My surgery is scheduled for December 1 and I see my surgeon this afternoon for my pre-op visit. I'm excited and scared to death at the same time! Not sure when to expect my pre-op diet to begin as I am already within 2 weeks of my surgery date. I'm so glad I found this forum today! It's just what I needed. There doesn't seem to be any support groups for me to attend so finding this online community will be very helpful.

My preop diet is 2 Protein shakes, 2 servings fruit, 6-8 oz lean Protein and unlimited non-starchy veg.

I think I'm going to make ratatouille tomorrow. Had a great vegetable chicken Soup today and yesterday.

Anyone have any good veg recipes to share?

My surgery is 12/7, so Clear liquids on Sunday.

My clear liquid diet starts today, and my surgery is tomorrow. I've already been on a 2 Protein Shake / one lean meat w/veg diet for two weeks. I've been hungry through the whole thing with horrible headaches. I've also been awake half the night being hungry, so I'm trying to just white knuckle it through today. By this time tomorrow I will be heading to the hospital for my surgery! ????

I'm halfway through. I found it much easier than expected, but bought chocolate today with the intention of eating it (I didn't, but that was due to distraction, not willpower).

@@aaonthego first I want to say lucky you for the one week diet I'm jealous lol... It's really not that bad though I'm not sure what your surgeon allows everyone is a little different I am allowed to have post op week 1 and week 2 combined for these two weeks. So I am getting by pretty much on thin hot cereals, liquid egg substitute, strained Soups and Protein Drinks. I also am doing sugar free Jello and greek yogurts for Snacks. I drink plenty of Water throughout the day and I stay pretty full most days. broth is something most people do but I can't get it down I tried and the smell of it was so gross. Im looking for broth tips myself for week one post op. Hope this helps a bit..Good Luck!!

Checking in! Day 8 pre-op about to close. Keep on keeping on, till 12/16 surgery. I'm getting about 700 calories a day, but other than head hunger not doing too bad. Ok I did do some grousing to family about keeping junk food put away. I've been strong but I'm not superwoman.

Day 4 pre-op and it's been a struggle. I pulled up to Sonic for my daily 1/2 and 1/2 tea (baby steps...plus this location near my office doesn't know what SWEET tea is anyway, so it's more like 1/4 sweet 3/4 unsweetened!), and I saw the sign advertising their boneless wings. I did not want the chicken, just the sweet Asian chili sauce they put on them!!! My mouth is watering at the thought. Then it occurred to me how weird it would sound if I asked them for an order of wings, hold the wings, add extra sauce. But it's liquid so it should be ok, right? :P Humor helps me get through the day!

Every day is one day closer to surgery, so I just cross off the days with a red pen. 4 down, 8 to go (next Sunday will be Clear liquids only - I will probably be a hermit in the house that whole day #netflixandsleep)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
