Cost of Ionamed Lap Band

Recommended Posts

I have heard from a couple of different surgeons offices that the price of the actual Lap Band device is going up in Jan 2005. I have emailed Don Mills at Ionamed and he says that he does not know what the price increase will be but that the Dr.'s and Hospitals will be notified. I contacted the DR.'s offices but they do not yet know what the price increase will be. Does ANYONE know anything about this and know what the new price will be. It is my understanding that the current cost of the Ionamed lap band is approximately $3,5000.

I actually work in Hospital Materials. I could probably do some snooping around to find out what the current cost is, but it would be hospital cost, not patient cost.

I don't know about you guy's accross the pond - but in the UK the band op costs around £8.000 - usually inclusing 3 post op fills and hospital stay. In France it's 6,000 euro's (about £4,500).

How much is it for the package over there?

Audrey, I believe the posters are talking about the actual cost of the band itself. The cost to the hospital or the Doctor. I understand the band costs around 2,000.00 at least that is what I heard for the Mexican Drs. Hard to believe that little piece of latex and tubing could cost that much. Of course, research and other things factor in, too. Oh well, I'm just grateful someone came up with such an incredible alternative to the slice and dice method of Gastric bypass.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
