Worrying about stall

Recommended Posts

I'm only 16 days out but already been on a stall for 5 days, even gained a pound. I lost 18 the first week and a half, then haven't lost anymore. I'm following the rules, but getting concerned. This is much easier to follow when you can see you're losing weight. I know everyone says you shouldn't weigh everyday but when I was losing, it gave me such inspiration. Feeling blue today and want sweets, but won't do it...

Have someone hide your scale. Seriously.

The first month or so after surgery, your body is trying to heal. That's the first order of business, for it, and for you. There is SO much going on internally that can't be measured on a scale. Follow directions, and trust the process.

18 lbs in 16 days is awesome. Believe it.

Why? Stalls are part of the process. You will stall. You can't avoid it if you want to successfully lose weight.

Embrace the Stall!

STAY. OFF. THE. scale. Trust the process, stay on plan and you WILL lose weight.

Or keep weighing every day and keep obsessing over the scale. Put all your faith in numbers that don't mean anything. Maybe you'll get so frustrated you will start up bad habits and sabotage your chance at success. It happens.

I chose the first option and lost over 100% of my excess weight. Didn't need a scale to measure my success. In fact, I don't even OWN a scale.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
