I had the flu shot once and never EVER again. I was so ill with the flu, having never had more than a mild cold before. We get them free at work. No thanks lol

I have had a flu shot every year since forever. The only time I had a bad reaction was with the swine flu vaccine in 1976. Guess who never gets the flu.

I plan on talking to my dr about this when I see him in December but I just wanted to see what everyone else has been told about the flu shot.
I haven't had the flu in well over 10 years. I even worked one flu season at an urgent care. I survived without getting even the slightest cold. I haven't had a flu shot in at least 20 years.
When I was in the hospital the nurse kept telling me the dr recommends waiting 6 weeks to get the flu shot and the first year post op they highly recommend it. I forget to ask at my 2 week check up and my dr never mentioned it.
I volunteer in my kids classrooms all the time. Yesterday kids were coughing and sneezing all over me???? I am sure my immune system probably took a bit of a hit having surgery.
So I was wondering what your surgeons suggest when it comes to the flu shots?
