I am very excited about this new journey. I have dealt with obesity since a little girl. My weight has fluctuated throughout the years. I have been struggling with PCOS and I have been prediabetic since I got out of high school. I just turned 24 in October. This is the heaviest I have been in my entire life and I'm just sick of it. A few months ago, my primary care physician asked if I considered WLS. I said "absolutely not". I thought about the question and kept it to myself for a while. Few days later, my father asked the same thing... I said maybe it's a sign. Maybe I should look into this. That was 4 months ago. Yesterday, I scheduled my VSG surgery ???? I am beyond excited and glad I had a change of heart. I wish everyone the best of luck on their own journey and I will share my story with you all. ????

Best of luck to you in your new journey. I wish I had done this YEARS ago...it was one of the best decisions I have made for myself. Right now I'm about 80lbs lighter than I have been in decades, I can walk more, do more, and it feels great.

Good luck it's been one of the hardest things I've ever done but also one of the best and most freeing things as well. When the weight starts lifting it lifts from your mind and heart as well as your body! Enjoy your journey and stay thankful for the opportunity to change your life even through the worst times . Even the days I thought "omg I dunno if I can do this" I made myself never say "I wish I hadn't done this" and that has made my journey so much lighter...and my body too haha! You'll be great!

Congratulations. It seems like you have wonderful around you, and that is the greatest gift one can have in this process...even more so than the skill of the surgeon. I hope you also came to a personal conclusion that this is the right call by reflecting on your previous struggles and striving to understand yourself through a little introspection. Hopefully time will just confirm your decision for you. Best of luck!

I'm sure your story has a familiar refrain to a lot of us around here. I've also been obese since childhood. I'm now nearly four months out and couldn't be happier. Finally, I've found a way to conquer the beast that has negatively controlled my life in so many ways. It's like finally being set free after a wrongful conviction.

I'm glad you decided to listen to the signs. You have a wonderful new life awaiting you!

I feel like that's what this is all about. Gaining control of yourself and your life. This is why I've made this decision. I'm so glad that you are happy with your results. Continue to be blessed. Congratulations.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
