I am a week and a half post op. My dr wants me to get at least 60grams of Protein a day. I am really struggling with it. I've tried Premier Protein, Isopure, isopure unflavored mixed with things, and I've tried nectar. None of them sit well with me. I am forcing nectar down as we speak but it sits like a rock in my tummy and I never reach my 60gram goal. It worries me I am not getting my protein, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Keep trying. There are loads of Protein shakes and drinks. Some find it helpful to add greek yogurt to them, some mix them with milk (dairy or nondairy), some mix them with Water. Some need to thin them out with extra Water or dress them up with nut butters or flavor enhancers. Also look at foods that are high Protein such as greek yogurts, kefirs or cottage cheeses. Play around with temperatures. Some need room temp, some prefer ice cold. Take teeny tiny sips and walk after eating. It's really all trial and error, keep testing until you find what works for you.

Order a sample pack from the company called Unjury. The Protein is thin like milk and doesn't seem to sit heavy on my stomach like other stuff does. They also have a chicken broth that is awesome. It might be worth the try.

I \m 2 months post op and still struggle to get my 60-70 grams of Protein in. Premier Protein drinks are my savior. I don't always get all it in but try hard and just had tests done and all is well with me.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
