Hi all. I am one week post op. I have lost 6lbs. but at first I gained 10lbs just from the surgery. It was unbelievable. But I also had a lot of fluids from the surgery-along with internal bleeding and two blood transfusions. I wasnt taking much in so I was surprised at the gain even though I had been warned. but things are good now. I can only take in a couple of teaspoons of food at a time like cream of chicken Soup and cream of wheat. Not hungry but know I have to keep getting food into my body. Am on track with my Vitamins. The incisions are bruised and so so sore. Hubby took off the first week. I thought I would be back at work this week but the set backs from the complications kind of made me slow down. getting my strength back and ready for this new beginning. I am on pudding-yogurt- with no fruit-cream of soups-for another week. Thought I would start posting on the Post Op side. yippie. So happy to be on this journey with so many cool people on here!!!

Hi---I had surgery the same day as you :-)

Sorry to hear about your complications! Someone once told me to just step on the scale every other week, so that we aren't dwelling on the number. The weight will come off, some weeks more rapidly than others. I'm guessing that once we become a little more active, the weight is going to just melt off.

For me, five days postop, I had already lost 18 pounds. Now the scale hasn't budged in three days.... But I'm not too concerned.

I will be starting on puréed food today, not really sure what exactly I will be having, it seems so weird just preparing two bites of something, Lol.

I'm very sorry that you had the complications but am glad that you are stable and recovering well now.

I know it's been a crazy scenario and hoping that things calm down and the loss is steady.

I had my surgery on the 20th, but I wont get on a scale until my Follow-up on Friday. I know from looking at a LOT of forum participants that the first 7-10 days average 11%-15% of pre-Operation weight. It is not a number of pounds that is telling, but the percentage lost that will be far more relevant.

That said, I can already wear clothes that were way too tight on the 19th. I see this as a great start, but I do miss chewing and I am looking forward to finding out if I like Hummus.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
