I am starting to feel very discouraged because of how slowly I'm losing weight. It's been 11.5 weeks since my surgery and I'm down 34 lbs. I've seen some people lose that amount in the first month. Granted, I'm not getting enough Water and I'm not exercising as regularly as I should, but I would expect the lack of calories alone would result in faster weight loss. I'm worried about my 3 month post-op appointment on the 28th. I'm afraid my surgeon will be unhappy with my progress. I am already so down on myself about it, I can't handle hearing from someone else that it's not enough. ????

What are your stats? How old are you and what BMI did you start at. Are you avoiding carbs? Amp up your Water and Protein and drop the complex carbs and see what happens.

I don't eat carbs. I eat less than 20 a DAY. And my Protein is 80+ grams a day which is what my surgeon wants me at. I'm 36 and 5'4". Weight day of surgery was 253, weight today is 219.

I see people who eat carbs galore and lose weight faster than me.

You're doing just fine. We all lose at different paces, and that's okay. The only time we get discouraged is when we compare ourselves to others. I know. I was an extremely slow loser (yes, even slower than you). I had lost a little over 50 pounds at 6 months, and it took me well over a year to get to my goal of 85. But I just kept my nose to the grindstone, didn't give up and kept going with my plan. I tweaked things when they needed adjusting for when I stalled (which was a lot) and stayed the course. Now I'm 4 pounds below my goal at 14 months out, feeling great and reaping the rewards of all my hard work! Try not to get discouraged, because it's really counter productive to your goals. Keep your eye on the prize and walk your own walk, and the next thing you know you'll be there too!

There are people who are slow losers. Also people with lessor amounts to lose may lose at a slower pace. Low carbs is not the always the answer. Carbs are beneficial to you depending on the type of carb. Complex carbs can actually play an important part in your weight loss efforts. I would try and increase Water intake since that can impact your weight loss. You will have to decide if exercise will help or not. I know for me personally exercise is key. I have a slow metabolism due to a medical condition and medication that slows the metabolism. If I don't work out regularly, I don't lose. However, there are plenty of people who make it to goal without exercising.

I am down 38 pounds and I'm 8 weeks post op.. I haven't lost anything in 3 weeks just stayed the same.. I'm deflated and disappointed. I know 38 pounds is a great weight loss but I really thought I would be down more. I have my first visit to hospital tomorrow. Hoping they can shed some light on why the stall so soon after op ????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
