2 more days and so scared

Recommended Posts

I am starting to panic... I am scared of not feeling good from not eating or having soda, I tend to get headaches cause I am totally addicted to soda. Hahah.... Will I miss food like crazy? So many thoughts going through me head.

Our bad food habits are just as strong and just as deadly as, say, heroin. I quit soda 6 months before my surgery because I knew that detoxing the body of sugar and caffeine is an uncomfortable and completely no-fun process. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Within 2 or 3 days I felt just fine. As for missing food, I certainly still do. Sometimes I see creamy mac and cheese or a big bowl of ramen and it just looks SO good that I have this pang of regret, like "I'm never going to be eating these foods again... what have I done?!" and then after about 2 seconds of that, the thought and desire passes, and I remember that I've lost 40 pounds in 8 weeks since surgery and my health is wonderful. I still like and crave the foods I used to, but now it's so, so easy to move on from it. You'll do just fine, just keep your head in the game and remember why you are doing this in the first place. :)

I feel like I will never be small. Like I won't lose the weight or even if I do, I will still be big looking. Like big boned. Sounds weird I am sure! Haha....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
