Tomorrow I begin my 2 week liquid diet. I'm so nervous. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th and my mom is also having surgery that same day. Any tips for us as we embark on this journey? Any help is much appreciated!!

How great that you and your mom are doing it the same day! My sister and I had ours on 9/10/15. :) keep each other going with positive thoughts and know you can bounce thoughts and feelings off one another.

Congrats and best of luck! My advice is just to be prepared for bumps in the road.

This is one of toughest surgeries one can undergo. Nearly everyone I've spoken with says they regretted the surgery at some point early on. It's just because you're feeling the worst and have the least amount of reward (weight loss) at that point.

I remember telling my dad I wish I'd just stayed fat when I was in the hospital. I had a reaction that made my skin itch and burn all over my body, so I was pretty miserable. I was doing much better a day later.

Another thing, I was surprised both by how crappy I felt after and how quickly I improved.

Let us know if you have any more specific questions or worries!

Thank you all ❤️ I'm really looking forward to the surgery and so nervous at the same time. My mom worries constantly because that's just who she is, so I have to be strong enough for the both of us.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
