Approved but switched drs

Recommended Posts

So i started my journey in august. I went thru my psychiatric evaluation and nutritionist appointment (my insurance only required the one) but due to the hospital being 3 hours away i switched and am seeking another hospital to go to. Well today i received a letter that i was approved for surgery October 20th. Anyways now im pretty bummed. Could have had surgery sooner. But there is no way id realistically be able to travel so far on such a short notice. Also, has anyone had surgery at clovis (california) community hospital? Thats probably where i am going to go now.

I'm going through ALSA in Fresno, CA and I will go to Fresno heart and surgery center, but Clovis community is a really nice hospital, I've only been to the er and maternity ward though...

@ i was going to use them. But when i went to a seminar and initial consultations with a surgeon were already into January. Hopefully clovis community is a bit quicker.

Lol yes! I tried to make the initial consult in June and my appt wasn't until mid August.... Now I'm just waiting on the egd appt which isn't until nov 25... Lol figures that would be my luck, to have another appt that takes 3 months!! I'm ready, I just have to be patient..✌

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
