Banded 2013 but my first post

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Always read everyone's posts here but this is my first post.

My history:

Banded early 2013.

Max weight lost 115 lbs

Starting weight 275lbs

Achieved 160 lbs in 1 1/2 years

Then the problems started. Fills and defills. Burning sensation, to barium Swallows showing slightly enlarged pouch, slight slippage as per doc. Kept defilling me up to the point where as of now I have 1cc in my band.

Anyways back to the present.

Gained 25 lbs back. Presently at 185 lbs. Finally after constant pestering the doc has decided to reposition my band as it is under the 5 year warranty. But has also told me that if there is a lot of scar tissue they will take the band out.

My question is : has any one had the band repositioned ?

Is so, has the second time around been successful?

Has anyone got their band removed instead of getting it repositioned??

I have already started my pre op diet for the repositioning.

Any comments will be appreciated. Many thanks

Hello everyone, just had my repositioning surgery of the band done yesterday. Luckily the surgeon could save the band. Going thru the same pain as I did when I had my lap band put in in 2013. Anyone out there who has had repositioning done and has been successful the second time around or vice versa. Don't want to be a failure the second time around. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. Thanks

The repositioning surgery hurts more than when the first time the lap band was put in. I hope that it is normal. Put in a call to the office and hopefully should get a response tomorrow.

Spoke to the surgeon today. She said she put the band as high as she could. She said the pouch wasn't that big at all. Pain is terrible especially in the port area. Been on fluids and will be on fluids for the next couple of weeks. Lost 15 lbs already. 20 lbs to goal. Just have 1cc in my band, but will really wait it out this time before getting it filled. I went to 6.5 cc in my 10 cc band and then all the problems started. Small fills if needed only. Keeping my fingers crossed so I don't have another slip.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
