4 week low carb diet....everything I love has carbs

Recommended Posts

I have 6 weeks left til my surgery on November 9 and for the next 4 weeks I'm on a 1200 calorie 60 carbs or less and 80 protein....

I have realized one thing I live on carbs... I live on pizza Pasta and bread products...

I need help I asked my Nut to explain carbs to me and all she said was if you don't want carbs don't eat carbs, ok that's not the answer I was looking for..

Can anyone give me some idea of simple one person things I can eat that won't break the bank money wise carb wise or calorie wise

This.

Also, turkey and tuna. I eat a lot of roasted turkey deli meat and tuna.

Make sure the vegetables aren't starchy. Try broccoli, cauliflower, green Beans, etc. Avoid corn, peas, potatoes, etc.

Eat clean. Fish is good. Green leafy vegetables. Stay out of the center isles whenever possible at the grocery store. Shop the outside. If you look at the layout of most grocery stores all the processed junk is on the inside isles. The outside is where you find most whole foods. Fresh meats, veggies, dairy, fruits and eggs. I try to get all my foods on the outside! Research good and "bad" carbs. There is a huge difference. For example avocado they are higher in carbs and fats but they are healthy carbs and fats. Processed foods are for the birds! Learn to substitute recipes that you like, I do that all the time. If you like potatoes make mashed cauliflower instead. If you like pizza make it with a chicken crust or cauliflower crust instead. Make kale chips or turnip fried. There are so many things you can make to mimic the foods you enjoy you just have to research what you like.

Breakfast: no Cereal and milk or poptarts or pancakes...they are like a whole days worth of carbs!

Instead have a Protein based Breakfast. For example, egg beaters, veggies and turkey sausage omelet but no carby side dishes.

Lunch: no sandwich and chips

Instead: salad greens with sliced turkey, Tomato, cukes etc. Olive oil and white balsamic vinegar dressing.

Or maybe a"lettuce wrap" sandwich.

Dinner: Protein and veggies and salad.< /p>

Snacks: carrots, pickles, Protein drinks.

Stick to the outer perimeter of the grocery store when you shop.

Don't even go down the aisles.

Low carbs are where it's at with the post op diet to maximize weight loss.

Get used to that now.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
