I am one week sleeved today, yay. Im noticing that there is one incision site (im assuming its the one they pulled every thing out of ) is in alot of pain when I move, should i be concerned or is this normal for the healing process?

I think that's pretty normal, but if it continues to bother you, check with your surgeon. I have seen a lot of posts here that describe what you are talking about and it seems to happen to a lot of people. I had a lot of pain at the incision site where my drain was for 2-3 weeks after surgery. I was just careful with movement to limit the pain and eventually it went away. Good luck to you!

I figured its normal but never hurts to ask, im using a heating pad right now to ease some pain, i just didn't see anything in the paper work about incisions other than make sure they arent oozing. ..

Until I was about three weeks out, I had pain at the drain site, but after the first week, it only hurt when I coughed or sneezed (I had the good fortune of catching a cold promptly upon leaving the hospital). They tried to show me some trick that I completely didn't get the hang of in which you sit upright in a certain position and hold a cushion to your drain site to absorb some of the Jerky movement. It didn't seem to help so I just decided to wait it out. My personal experience, now seven weeks out, is that the pain goes away right at about three weeks, but a slight concavity right around the former drain site remains. It doesn't seem to be getting smaller, even as my abdominal area does.

Do you have pain meds? Or even Tylenol? No sense in being a hero and fighting through the pain, that's what the meds are for :) I definitely had one spot on my left side (actually a little below an incision) that has been giving me trouble. I'm just over three weeks out, and the last two days have been the first days when I've been almost completely pain free.

Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!

Big incision site hurt pretty badly for seven days, a lot less the next 5, and then gone around day 14

The big incision is usually the site where they pull the stomach through and that causes a good deal of trams, pain, swelling and bruising; the stomach is pretty big, so that incision site usually takes the longest to heal and hurts the most.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
