Any Oct 6 Sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

Doing great. I'm officially down 90 now. 14 lbs to my doctors one year out goal (already!) and 35 to personal final goal. I'm in size 10 to 12 depending on how it was made. And I'm running 5Ks like its my new job. Hehe. I feel amazing. This is the best thing I ever did for myself.

Down 99 lbs. 8 under goal. The 36" jeans are loose and I'm working on maintenance. It's crazy, but if I sick to anything like my post op diet, I keep losing weight.

Meeting with my surgeon for my 6 month check up Wednesday (yep, a little late).

Took my daughter to Mexico this week for her gastric sleeve. Such wonderful attention she has received during this process. I'm so excited for her as she starts this new journey to a healthier, happier girl!

I surpassed my doctor's one year goal for me this morning. Not quite 9 months out. He wanted me at 150 by my one year anniversary/surgiversary. I'm 149.6.

My BMI is officially in the Normal range. Wow! Best feeling ever

I have 20.4 lbs to my personal goal of 129. That will set me comfortably in the mid range of normal bmi since I'm very small framed.

I can't believe how far I've come. Last year I could barely walk a mile. Now I'm training for a 10k and signed up for a mile fun run in 2 weeks because "it's only a mile" ???? haha!

How is everyone in our October group doing??? Thinking about you all and hope you're finding success

Hi all October 2015. I seem to be stuck for over 6weeks now at 159. Working out etc.. but kind of lax in food probably. Any suggestions on getting back to losing?

I'm 10/19 and am in the same boat. Hovering around 165-167. I need to refocus and get back on track. Not doing horrible, but also want to get to 150!!!

Good time for a year 1 update!

1. Hit my goal (190) on March 3rd and been in between 183 and 192 since. Had my annual check up Wednesday and weighed in at 188.

2. ALL my blood work came in perfect, even my liver tests and glucose.

3. I exercise more than suggested - 70,000+ steps a week. My arthritis is mostly tamed and I even walk 18 holes of golf and carry my clubs!

4. I socialize more than I ever dreamed possible. If I see a bunch of unhealthy food coming my way, I have a beer, drink 1/3rd and dig in. Unhealthy food can't hurt you (much) if all you eat is 4-6 ounces.

The keys to my maintenance success are threefold:

1. Developing an arsenal of 100-200 calorie healthy "meals" that make up 90% of my diet. This pretty much enables me to eat carefree on the other 10%.

2. The exercise!

3. A great scale and fitness tracker to "keep me honest".

Without a doubt, the best thing I've ever done for myself!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
