I was sleeved this last week September 2nd. I feel a lot better this week. I was doing awesome since getting home from the hospital up until yesterday. I started getting cravings for anything and everything I know I shouldn't have and idk how to curve these cravings! I don't wanna mess up on my diet and I definitely don't want to risk a leak and I don't want to cheat around my diet. Any suggestions on recipes or foods/soups that you found helped you get through the liquid 2 weeks post op!!

We're in the same boat. I was sleeved on August 31st. I don't know if it's because of our young age or what because my relatives had the surgery a few years back and their journey was so different than mine. Basically, hours after surgery I was already able to drink big gulps without any pain. Before I left the hospital I was already getting cravings for food. I figured that wasn't supposed to happen for sometime. My uncle was so busy with being nauseous that he had no time to crave food. He was just happy to get a few drops of Water. I was expecting that. Instead I have zero nausea (which is great). but I want to eat everything! I'm on week 2 of post op liquid diet and tonight I finally gave in and bought a cheeseburger from McDonald's. I only ate the meat and cheese but that's besides the point. I'm confused. I knew It would be hard but I didn't expect this so soon. I'm so worried I'll be back to old habits quick. I thought maybe there would be bad consequences for eating that like throwing up or something but nope, I feel like I ate an entire value size combo but that's about it. I need help.

please be careful about switching phases of food to quickly because you can rupture a staple line

I thought that I was experiencing hunger after I came home from hospital but it was actually reflux.

Its so strange that it can mimic hunger, but upping my anti-reflux medication has helped so much.

But I'm dreaming of mashed potatoes and bbq shredded chicken, gosh.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
