I am at three weeks and stuck at 18lb weight loss . Moving and sticking to the diet but not kissing a pound more. I am still keeping hope alive!

I had VSG on 7/31 to date, a total loss of 30lbs. In fact, two days ago I weighed in at 177. Today, I got on the scale and was 179.7. I walk 5 miles each day, lift weights twice a week (Full body workout, I'm a personal trainer). I get close to 100grams of Protein daily (I still drink one Protein shake a day, otherwise I can't reach the 100g), I get about 600 calories in a day. I shoot for the 100 grams of Protein because I am hoping not to lose hair (though I hear that's inevitable at around the 3 months mark). I don't know why I gained, I eat the same things every day, but I did. I am losing slowly, and not sure whether it's because I started out smaller than the average sleever or not. I try not to get discouraged, it's hard, but I keep telling myself, that slower loss is always better than fast:

1- Skin wont sag (though I'm doing whatever I can not to let it, by working out, and the slower loss)

2- And that eventually I'll get to my goal... (119lbs)...

The first week after my surgery on April 30th I gained 6 pounds. The next week I lost 13. Hang in there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
