Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Oct. 1st, 2015 in Tijuana Mexico w/Dr Ramos Kelly. The first two days were rough for me but now that I am back home I am feeling so much better! Good luck to all the October Surgeries! The journey is beginning :)

Had my last pre op appt before my surgery in two weeks! liquid diet starts today (I have been on a low carb pre op diet for the past two weeks). I can't believe how close it is, I'm pretty sure it was just last month I was starting my 6 month supervised diet. I lost 10 lbs in the first two weeks of pre op diet as well which was exciting! Hope everyone surgeries are going well!

Hello nervous nana Glad you finally got your approval!! I will add your date to our October list of Surgery's! I went to my GP and got a low dose of anxiety meds which have helped me tremendously!! Some days are worse than other's about feeling scared but this forum really helps!

Thank you so much, I need something so much for this case of nerves. I started crying when they called today. ...the coordinator was confused, she said usually they are happy....I am just a basket case. I wish I could just turn my mind off!! I wish you the very best, we are really doing this!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
