Hi all,

I am curious how many of us can eat apples with the band. There are so many really good apples out there and it is coming up to apple season soon. I love them when they are really firm and crisp, but I am a bit concerned about not being able to keep them down.

anyone tried them?

What other fruits are easier to eat?

I have eaten apples and would suggest your peal them. The pulp is very easy and chews down to a liquid fairly quickly. The skins could be a problem if you have a tight restriction. At this time, I can eat the skins. I also eat nuts such as cashew which chew down to a fine pulp as well. Doddie

I find apples hard - I have to peel and slice them to eat them, which doesnt worry me in the slightest since biting into an apple with the skin on sets my teeth on edge.

The flesh does chew down but its still one of those foods that really fills me within a bite or two, I have to go slow.

Apples are great but I also have to peel them. Found out about that the hard way! Other fruits that are easy - watermelon and blueberries are my favorite. Strawberries go down well also. Anything with a thick rind of any kind needs to be peeled.

I am pretty sure that I could eat apples, but the peels would get me.

I have been having troubles with fruit peels lately.

I have had sticking episodes with some cherry skins and a skin from a stewed Tomato that was in some chili. A stupid skin from a beef sausage just about killed me the other day. I got so inflamed I had to resort back to full liquids for 48 hours to feel better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
