My surgeon told me that he will usually not fill if I am losing well (1-2lbs per week) AND if I'm not starving or feeling that I am working very hard not to eat. I am only a couple of weeks post-op so we'll have to see how I do, but that isn't the first time I've heard of this.

Mine will only fill if the weightloss has stopped. If you are losing 1lb a week he won't do it. I don't think everyone does it that way but I don't think it's completely atypical either

I have not had a problem with losing yet. I am only 7 weeks post op and have done well for myself. but i have slowed down to about 1-3 lbs per week. I have also just recently started to workout again. So hopeflly that willget meback to losing faster.

I have gone for two fills and both times they would not fill me. She says she doesn't want to do a fill if I am losing so fast on my own. After being disappointed about it, I came to realize that I am lucky I am losing so fast with no fills and am going to enjoy it while I can!!!! Although, I do have restriction without a fill so I do get full if I am in tune to my body. Now head hunger is a whole different thing!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
