Walking is a good exercise. Walk daily for about 30 minutes. My driveway is steep and I would walk up and down it, it is like hill walking. It uses two different sets of muscles. One on the way up and the other on the way down. I found this to be beneficial. It is like climbing stairs.

I'm a sleever, but I'm not sure the instructions are different. I can go in the Water after 4 weeks, lift more than 10 pounds after 6 weeks (less abs), and start doing ab exercises after 8 weeks. But, as always, those are just minima. Always listen to your body.

At week 4 I started doing Water aerobics twice a week at my local gym. its a good workout, just had to hold my stomach the first week because halfway through it was uncomfortable

My surgeon didn't put a time restriction on working out. He said once I feel good I can start, and just take it easy. If something doesn't feel right, don't do it. I started doing more intense exercise around week 5.

By 4 weeks I was back to my pre-op workouts, lifting heavy weights, running and cycling..

At this point, if walking is doing well, try adding small bursts of jogging.. 30 seconds every 2-3 minutes.. do that for 30ish minutes.. and after a week or two, increase your jogging time..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
