Feel like eating too much?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I feel like I'm eating too much. I'm 10 days post op.

I can drink 1-2 Protein shakes, 2-3 oz of cottage cheese, pureed meat, or yogurt 3x a day, a bowl of Soup. And I still want to eat :(

I read people who can just take a bite of Jello and get full. Or drink half a glass of Protein and get full. But I can't do that.

How much could you guys eat??

Everyone's post-op experience is different. Some people experience a great deal of swelling that makes even a tiny sip of Water "filling". Some people have no problem chugging water straight out of the gate. Plus, there is a strong posibility of temporary nerve damage during surgery, so you should NOT be relying on any sort of "full" feeling right now. You should be measuring your food and eating on a timer.

I feel you it's so easy for me to eat and drink. Except Water but everything is goes down like a breeze. I'm kind of jealous of people who only eat 2 spoonfuls and they're full. I constantly look for something to eat lol.

I'm 11 days post op from a band to RNY revision and I feel the same way. I'm kind of nervous! I can drink Water all day and eat 3-4 Tbl of food and I don't feel full but I'm also not hungry. I have the head hunger BAD! Sooo I'm just taking it easy and only eating what the dr. told me. I don't want to push it. Hopefully we'll figure it out as we heal. You're not alone.????

Yeah, no.

The best way to figure out what's going on is NOT "... eating something completely crazy to see if I get sick ...."

How's about just eating what you're supposed to eat.

How's about calling your surgeon or her/his P.A. or nurse and having a conversation to figure out what you might be doing wrong.

What you should do is get the help you need from your medical team to figure out how to get on and stay on the eating / drinking / exercise program that will help you become healthy.

The sleeve itself will not fix your obesity. You have to make good choices about the foods you eat and drink. You have to make changes in HOW you eat as well -- eat Protein first and don't drink while eating (that would make it easy for you to eat more), walk and exercise regularly, and other behavior changes.

You have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to become healthy. Please don't waste this opportunity. WLS does not come with a guarantee of success. Your success depends on your decisions and actions.

EEEEEEK :o

"Knock It off"  :D

8 days PO you are "probably" only allowed to drink

you will not feel any restriction

maybe you have been told to progress to Clear Liquids or pureed

all docs/NUTS give different rules/advice

Always Only Listen To Your NUT/surgeon

they are the ones in the know

it can be interesting to see other newbies et al reaction to what/how little/much they can eat

some can only have those few sips of Water, a bite or two of Jello

all of us react differently on how they can eat/drink PO

some get sick, some can only drink/eat X amount

I'm glad you are not having problems

you have found out that your tummy will hold more after such a short time

welllll, now you know

get back to program and eat/drink gradually whatever your NUT/surgeon tells you

please don't experiment again through the different stages, later too

people have been shot for less :o ;)

there's an old expression from this board

Just Because You Can Doesn't Mean You Should

"testing/checking" - trying to see how much.what you can eat is not a good thing

talk to your NUT about the proper stages on what you are allowed to eat (how much)

i know you will be successful :)

just follow/learn all the rules

there will be a test to follow

continued speedy/healthy recovery

good luck :)

Kathy

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
