What weight for regular size clothing??

Recommended Posts

So I got a pair of pants that are size 16 from the gap - a tiny bit tight but have stretch and were an only $24.99! I also got a babydoll wool jumber from banana republic mostly because the size 14 fit! It was way too expensive but good for work and a size 14!!! The weirdest part of today is that I went to get a bra fitting and I went from a 40E (yes E) to a 36G - now have you guys ever heard of G before? ANd how did my boobs get bigger after losing 44lbs? WEIRD

The cup size is based on the difference in size between your chest and your boobs. I went from a 46D to a 42 DD with a 100 lb loss. I started in 26/28 and am now an 18 in pants and an xl/16 in tops.

yea Karen!!! I went nuts shopping when I found stuff in bannana republic that fit

where did you get your bra fitting done? i've seen 2-3 difft ways to measure- some use the measurement under your breasts; others right above to figure band size.. Its all confusing to me

I am 5'3.5" and I am 195lbs. I am wearing 14s and 16s in pants and 14-18 in tops. It all depends on the cut, fabric, and brand. But I am thrilled to be able to pick up a size off the rack and 9 times of 10 it fits!

I was fitted at a bra specialty shop called the Town Shop on the upper west side in Manhattan. They didn't measure me but eyeballed me and had me try on a bunch of the same bra in different sizes. I was so suprised by the size they even called in another fitter for a second opinion!

Reading some replies on this thread have me completely confused... I guess it's gotta also depend on how tight you can handle having things fit.

There are some posters on here that are fairly close to the same weight as I am, but inches shorter, which should technically mean they are bigger around, but they are wearing the same (or smaller) sizes tham me !!! I don't get it !!!

When I was banded I weighed 306 and wore a 26/28 pants and a 4/5X. I have now lost 100lbs and wear a 16 pants and a X/1X shirt....and I'm 5'11" !!!

I think it just depends on how your weight is distributed and how much muscle you have. Muscle is heavier and takes up less space than fat.

I've always been able to shop at regular stores for tops, even at my heaviest (272). Pants on the other hand, I wore a size 18 (I'm 5'8) from a plus-size store a few years back. Now I'm a 16 and I refuse to shop at a plus size store (the only ones around here are way too expensive..plus it's a mental thing for me)...so I can get 16's at a regular store and that has worked great for me.

Forgot to mention this...Kind of off topic...but I LOVE spanx!!!! I often buy clothes for "when" I lose a little weight so Spanx has been a lifesaver. I can wear the cutest clothes like everyone else and not worry about my fat bulging out because the spanx keeps in allllll in lol.

I know this is an old post, but hey its new to me, I just found it...Pre band I was 197 pounds and I am 5'3. I wore a tight 14 loose 16. To date I am about 158 pounds and I am wearing a comfortable size 8 jeans right now. I see people smaller then me wearing bigger sizes. So I guess just different builds....My goal is a size 6. My boobs have dropped from a 40D to a 38C. Which I am glad, I dont miss them at all, nor do I miss the back aches that come along with them.....

Hi, I Started Out At 348 Wearing A 34 Dress And A 52dd Bra. Now I Am Wearing A 38f Bra And Was Wearing A 5-6x Shirt And I Am Wearing A 2x Now. I Am 5'7" .

I Am Going To A Ball In Dec And Had To Get A Gown. I Tried All The Big Stores But They Had Now Dressy Dress, So I Tried Dillard's. They Had A Huge Selection Of Dresses. I Told The Lady I Have Just Lost 133 Lbs And Think I Am In A 18-20. She Looked At Me And Said Lets Try A 16. I Said Yeah Right! It Fit. I Tried On At Least 20 Different Dresses And All But One Fit In Size 16. I Was Blown Away. I Am Now Down To 213 And Very Happy. This Was The First Time I Have Tried To Buy Anythng In A Reg Store In Over 20 Yrs.

I wear the cupid body suits from Walmart and really like them. They are spandex. I have never personally felt spanx ... what are they made of? I worry about having nylong type material since I am so hard on it with my long nails.

Yeah it's really weird to see how we all have huge size differences and barely fluctuate in weight... strange but interesting

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
