haven't lost a lb in 4 days...

Recommended Posts

So I am 24 days post-op and I have been losing at least a pound a day if not more since the surgery. Now I haven't lost a thing in 4 days. I am under my calories and I am getting almost all my Protein and my carbs are low.... What am I doing wrong? I am not going to lie I am starting to panic..... What should I do?

Stop panicking and weight in once a week.

Too many reasons for minor fluctuations--Water retention, time of the month, too much salt, hot temperature, workouts--you will make yourself crazy.

Also know that weight loss slows and there is an infamous three week stall that may or may not hit you anywhere from two to six weeks out.

It's the 3 week stall, very well discussed on the board if you do a quick search.

Your body is adjusting to the changes. I wouldn't worry. I'm pre surgery, lost 176 pounds to date and there were weeks where I didn't lose, and then all of a sudden 6,7, or 8 pounds in one week with no change in diet.

Agree with other posters - it's the "3 week stall." Do a quick search at the top of the page for it and there are tons of great threads!

Thank you everyone. It helps a great deal to know this is normal and I will look it up on here to educate my self more. I do have a problem with always checking the scale some times 5 times a day... I need to stop that.

Take your measurements (hips, waist, bust, arms, legs), and then track them each month. You will see a difference in sizing most likely during the months that it seems the scale showed little to no loss. It's because you sometimes lose fat and gain muscle - a pound of fat takes up way more room than a pound of muscle, so it helps to minimize the panic when you think you're not making much progress.

And yeah, three week stall is pretty much a given, and it can last for weeks and you'll see other stalls most likely all during your weight loss journey. Don't panic, just keep drinking your Water, eating a healthy diet and exercising.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
