Hiatal Hernia and wishful thinking

I will have a 4 hour drive home after surgery. I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't just stay another night.

I would definitely stay at least one night. I flew home on the 2nd day and it was tough. 2hr flight and then an hour drive home.

I had mine yesterday with Dr. Long. He is super nice. They told me I would go home the same day, but I ended up being kept all night because of trouble with pain management. I was released this morning.

Congrats!! Minus the pain aspect. But yay!! You did it. Keep us posted.

Surgery is tomorrow. Still waiting to hear from the Nick clinic regarding what time I'm supposed to be there.

It's almost 2pm. What time did you guys hear from them the day before?

How are ya'll doing post surgery? Is one week off enough ? I should have my surgery date by Friday and then I have to do a final lab and sleep study before the big day. (that's what I'm told anyway). You kind of get little bits of into each time you communicate. Anyone else feel like that? I hope you're all doing great! Good luck MeMe!

Hola update! Got sleeved at 11:30 am on Thursday (10/22). Was great in the hospital. But then the second day was awful. Pain everywhere inside and more nauseous than I'd ever been in my life. Could only get down sips of Water and diet juice. I felt a little the third day. Was able to stomach a couple of Popsicles, which were amazingly therapeutic. Today, I'm about 50%. Getting my appetite back. Was able to eat 1/4 of strained Soup. Down 6lbs since 10/22. Need to start getting in some Protein STAT though.

Any favorite protein you ladies enjoyed directly post op?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
