2 week post op stall? ????

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me out here. I'm 2 weeks post op today. I have not had any complications, no pain, vomiting etc (I'm NOT complaining)! My recovery has been amazing until today when I got on the scale and only dropped 2lbs!! I lost 13 my first week but only 2 this week! I'm so frustrated! Now, I do feel better, have been working out harder than "allowed to" cuz I feel like I can but scale wise I'm upset. Has this happened to anyone else? Words of advice? Thanks guy!

My advice: work on getting in all your Protein and Water every day and stay off the scale.

By the way, "only" losing 2 pounds is not a stall. You will stall throughout the process. Our bodies do not lose weight at a constant rate.

The best thing to do is focus on your Protein and Fluid goals and trust the process and weigh very infrequently.

Thanks Babbs! Trying not to get frustrated. I just felt like I was doing everything right and when I weighed myself this am I was bummed. But I will trust the journey!

I did the same. Dropped a bunch then seemed to stall. When I asked about it, I was told your body gets sort of shocked, and hangs back a second. . Most people experience it, but then it picks up again third week out. I was sceptical but, was true.. so hang tight, your body will catch up, trust the process :D

Thanks Livincrimson! It's good to know other people that have experienced it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
