Soft crackers?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow I am able to introduce SF pudding and blended low fat Soups (I am super excited about that!). However, one of the other things on the list I can start trying are "soft crackers." What the devil are soft crackers? Has anyone else come across this terminology?

Crackers soaked in Soup? I don't know but it doesn't sound very appetizing...well maybe if I were in your shoes it would. ;)

Soft crackers? Sounds like an oxymoron. Maybe they did mean softened crackers. Even in the early phases I concentrated on Protein sources. I did not try starches except for mashed Beans.< /p>

I don't understand why "soft crackers" (which I assume are saltines) are on your diet list. There's absolutely zero food value in them, and they're a slider food.

Just sayin'.

I was allowed saltines at week 4. If you chew them really well they go down easy.

All those crackers, reduced fat or not -- Ritz crackers, club cracker, saltines, wheat thins, and many other kinds of crackers -- are just baked white flour. They're the poster child of "slider foods."

Yes, they go down fast and easy -- down the esophagus, down the stomach, and right into your intestine, leaving plenty of room for more crackers. That's why they're called slider foods. ;)

The more of them you eat, the more you'll want. Pretty soon, you'll have eaten 200-300 calories a day in crackers alone. No nutrition, not even any Fiber. Just carbs and calories.

Just sayin'.

P.S. Here are some crackers that offer more nutrition than club, saltines, etc.:

Wasa multigrain crispbread cracker - 60 cals, 2 grams Fiber, 2 grams Protein

Doctor Kracker Three Seed Flat Cracker - 100 cals, 3 grams fiber, 5 grams Protein

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
