Tired, what did you do that helped you?

Recommended Posts

I have suffered from severe fatigue for most of my post-op period and at almost 10 months out it doesn't seem to be improving. I had blood work done to check Vitamin, thyroid panels, blood counts levels and it came back "normal". My diet has been adjusted several times to increase calories and Protein. Nothing helps at this point and the tiredness is so overwhelming at times. Please if you have dealt with tiredness and have it under control will you share how you managed it? Thank you.

What type of B12 Vitamin do you take and how often? Did you have a RNY gastric bypass surgery?

Good morning, I take Nature Made 1000mg timed release and I also take Centrum chewable which has a little additional B12. Yes, I had RNY.

I too purchased a bottle of Nature Made 1000mg timed release B-12 Vitamins. I asked my nutricianist if it was O.K. to take these in place of the sublingual B-12. She said NO. I think it has to do with the type of B-12. There are 2 types. One is called methylcobalamin. This is the type that should be taken. You might switch to the sublingual for a week (take it daily) and see if it makes a difference to your energy levels.

Hi James I just wanted to say thanks for the info, I have been taking the right kind of B12 and also incorporating some Feosol now and then and I have noticed a difference. I hope this keeps up but I just wanted to say I appreciate the advice.

I take a timed-release B-12 daily, and my last lab work showed that my B-12 levels were through the roof.

@@Trayjay33 , are your stats below your avi updated ?

Hi. Lol, I rarely use the main site and I am not up to date with all the latest computer lingo so I had to think what a avi was. Since I use so many apps including Bariatric Pal as an App I have not updated my stats. I don't get that information on the APP or know how to access it. I logged on the main site and I see it wasn't updated so I will update it. As of today in case you don't see it I am female 5'6", down about 113 pounds since surgery.

My doctor didn't seem to think a high B-12 count is a problem. Which is great news!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
