I had a fitbit and loved it! I lost it but plan on getting another one. It motivated me for sure to move more. I haven't had my surgery yet so I'm interested in hearing from those who have.

Do you use it to track your food?

I plan on it. I have it linked to My Fitness Pal app so it pulls my calories from there. I just got it tonight so I'm excited to start using it. I bought the Fitbit Flex.

I didn't know you could link it to my fitness pal...

It gave me the option to connect so I connected it and will test it out tomorrow.

I got a FitBt for Christmas, I love it ! It makes me aware of how much I really do move on an average day, if im really busy I can easily do 10, 000 steps by early afternoon, then come home and do more with yardwork. I dont keep track of my eating, I just try to eat healthy most of the time and try to get my Water in ( hard for me ). Love my Fitbit !

Love my Fitbit! I've had one for 3 years but really have used it most the past 7 mon.

I have mine linked to MFP but don't usually eat my "extra" calories since I'm trying to loose! It really motivates me to take the steps more, walk more etc. it's also fun...my dgt and I do challenges with each and it's fun competition that pushes us :)

I love my fit bit...the other thing I love is shealth on my samsung s6 phone! Because I have my phone with me everywhere it counts steps, weight, you can log food, take heart rate and it has trainings for running....so many cool things! I like the fit bit at night, then I record my sleep manually through shealth....

I love my fitbit! My steps will swing widely based on my work and travel schedule, but I am very focused on it tracking my active minutes and sleep. Lack of sleep is way too common with my work hours, and the less I get, the more I eat. It's a perfect tool to look back on my week to see if I've hit my goal of 7 hours of sleep a night. It really keeps me focused.

Also, I've been working out more than I ever have in my life (actually, we are comparing now to zero!) so this is good to keep weekly track of my activity levels. I've fallen in love with spin classes (never thought I'd ever say that!) and cycling doesn't translate into steps. By tracking my activity level, I can make sure i am getting the cardio I need for the week to continue to lose weight. I've had a couple of months of plateaus (Feb, April and June), and I've found that kicking up my cardio will help me break out of that.

I definitely recommend the fitbit. I haven't tracked my diet with it, nor do i use FitnessPal. I had tried, i just always lose interest after a day or two. Fitbit requires me to do nothing but wear it, so it works for me. If they can only find a way to track my diet without me having to type in anything or do any work...

I love my fitbit too. Both my husband and I got ones in August while I was in my prep phase for surgery. It has been awesome. We compete against each other so it encourages us to add "extra steps" to daily tasks to try to get the maximum steps. It also motivated us to get outside more and we have started doing trails in our parks with the kids which is great. My husband beat me for the first time during the bast two weeks due to the surgery and post-op healing, but I'm determined to beat him again this next week as I return to my normal routines. I also link my to MFP and use that to track my food. My dietician loves it because I'm extremely faithful to recording to keep it all in sync. It can be a fun motivator and I would be lost without mine now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
