I am in a rut too. Lol. I love my click coffee Protein Shake with milk every morning. I eat string cheese, boiled eggs, tuna salad and my favorite....boca veggie chicken patty with a slice of cheese on top. Those are my favorite go to foods. Today though...I had a in and out cheeseburger Protein style wrapped in lettuce and it was so good. Obviously I would never do this on a regular basis but I needed a change. I also found a good meat at Applebee. They have a grilled lemon chicken with quinoa. Its under 540 calories. I just ate the chicken though so it was less. Its nice every once in a while to do something different

Thanks for all of your answers! It looks like the good news is that a lot of us have healthy food ruts going on!

Something I’ve noticed is that these food ruts are based on convenience foods or easily prepared foods – like yogurt, deli slices, cheese, and Protein shakes. That seems to make sense, since most of us don’t have the time, energy, or interest in cooking a lot now, Still, I wonder if some of the gourmet chefs on here get into food ruts or not.

WL Warrior, Yes, food ruts are definitely a strategy for success! Find what works, and do it, over, and over, and over again! The fact that cutting out a lot of foods and depending on a limited variety can help you lose weight is one reason why a lot of the fad diets work, too (for a time, until you get sick of them). I think there’s research also to show that the fewer different foods you have at one meal, the fewer calories you eat because your taste buds get tired so your appetite goes down sooner.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
