Feeling Optimistic

Recommended Posts

In 2014 my band slipped , and I a complete unfill. Of course some of the weight I lost came back, but not too much because I was still working out. Getting myself back on track has been hard. My PA suggested I have an Endoscopy to make sure the band didn't slip again. I was a nervous wreck. The doctor confirmed that all was good, and I was relieved. They added 0.25 to my band. This was my first fill since January 2015. I feel the difference. I can eat , but the fullest comes after three or four chew sessions with my meal. I'm less hungry between meals .....lasting at minimum 4 hours. I'm tighter in the mornings , so I just drink some Water and then eat my oatmeal 30 minutes afterwards. I haven't weighed myself, but size 12 clothing is starting to feel loose. I also started taking different classes at the gym like Masala Bhangra and Barre Conditioning. I stop wearing my heart rate monitor, and now I just focus on the work and not the calories on the watch.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
