Protein Shake Questions

I am in the process of trying to find a shake that I like. I have never liked chocolate milk or milk for that matter. I am waiting for my surgery date and will need to do my preop diet which includes shakes, then I need them after my surgery. So far I have tried premier protein (strawberry cream) I can only drink about half before it makes me want to barf. jay Robb (strawberry flavor) is just yucky. I got the unjury in sorbet and chicken soup flavor I just haven't tried it yet. I need something that will taste fruity. Can I add frozen or fresh fruits to my shake? Won't that increase the sugar and calories? HELP? Any advice is much appreciated.

I love, love, love, the synthrax fuzzy navel and Caribbean cooler. With unsweetened vanilla almond milk OR this new milk- fairlife skim it has 13g protein, 6 carbs, and 80 calories. These powders have

I too am a Syntrax Nectar fan. The fuzzy navel is like a light refreshing orange julius. It's fantastic mixed with water and served over ice. I also have the wild cherry, apple ecstasy and roadside le

If you still have some fruity mixes to share I sure would be interested. I am worrying about the cost of all of these drinks so I would appreciate any help I could get. Let me know. Thanks.

The syntrax nectar is indeed fruity and juice-like. Give it a try

The other option that I like even better is to add collagen or gelatin to fruit puree to either make a smoothie (with the collagen) or a jello (with the gelatin). It's incredible and very very good for you, none of the artificiality of the syntrax (though I'm not knocking syntrax in moderation).

Fruit is full of sugar and you can't have that much sugar on a pre-op diet. So adding collagen etc to a fruit smoothie is out.

@@OutsideMatchInside, it depends on the kind and amount of fruit you use, but yes, a whole lot of fruit is definitely out. But something like a handful of blueberries, water and collagen is A-OK (at least if you're keeping under 40g carbs rather than less per day). I also frequently used a tiny amount of huckleberries or salmonberries with almond milk/water and the collagen to keep carbs low but get the tastiness local berries had to offer

I'm particularly a fan of popping a half a peeled cucumber, 5 grapes, and some collagen in the blender for an incredibly refreshing cucumber/grape Water smoothie. All fruit and all delicious.
