I had gastric bypass and gallbladder removal. I had my surgery on June 25,2015 in NC . The day of my surgery the doctor told my husband that he had a very hard time getting my gallbladder out and that I had many gallstones. Day 1 i felt pretty good . Day 2 I was suppose to go home. Day 2 in the afternoon I began vomiting up black blood and bile .I vomited about 15 to 20 times probably 3 t0 4 oz a time.I also was stooling blood as well . The gave everything they could for nausea . The hospital doc came in to see and told that my kidney function was compromised and that my white blood count was off. Then a GI doctor came to look at . But no one would tell me what was wrong . They told me that my blood pressure cause me to vomit . I continued to vomit for two days . I finally stopped vomiting. I was sent back to OR the GI doctor ran a scope down my stomach. He told that the Upper GI bleeding had stopped but that I had an ulcerated anastomosis and that where my surgeon reconnected my small intestines to my stomach was in very bad shape and that he could my repair it and that the only thing he could do is give me medication to protect my stomach and hope it would heal on its own. On day 7 day after my surgery I was discharge . Still with no answers about what happen to me .

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry this has happened to you, complications are never easy to deal with.

Hopefully you start to feel better soon. If you are not getting answers you should seek a second opinion right away so that you get answers as to what this is and why it happened. Also, what you need to do about it.

Don't settle for no answers. You owe it to yourself. This recovery is hard enough without having complications to deal with.

Keep us posted and please take very good care of yourself.

Holy cow, you've been through a lot! I hope you are feeling a bit better. You have a right to answers - by law, you can request a copy of all your medical records including the surgical report. I agree, a second opinion is probably something you need to get as soon as possible, Your surgeon could be more concerned about covering his @$$ right now than looking out for your best interests.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
