My surgery is today July 7th. I have to arrive at 530am ugh! Getting bypass and gallbladder removed. I'm so nervous I feel like vomiting and cannot sleep. I'm so tempted to call and cancel. I would if I wasn't cash pay. Ugh!!! My mom is yelling at me that I'm making a huge mistake that doesn't help me with no support. No one in my family is supportive. I'm just "lazy and need to exercise". I think it's mainly the $20,000 price tag as well. They claim it's a waste of money. =(

Breathe! You will be fine. You have come this far, so do not let anything or anyone stop you. My mother was against me having the surgery as well. So i finally told her I changed my mind, which was a lie, but I Was so tired of the negativity. Now that she sees me 6 weeks post op and 35 pounds lighter, she agrees it was best for me. The surgery is not too bad, my only advice is to get up and walk at least every two hours. It helps so much with the gas pain. The first week you will be very tired and will not want to eat, it's very normal, just try your best to get the fluids in so you do not dehydrate. I wish you the best of luck and cannot wait for you to join the losers bench.

You've gotten this far into the process for a very good reason - you want it more than anything else and it's the right decision for you.

It's perfectly natural to have second thoughts, but don't lend any more credence to the current little voices in your head, and unsupportive family and friends, than you do to all the positive research and testimony you've researched along the way.

There's a lot more than money at stake here, as there is not enough currency in the world that would equal obtaining long lasting health and happiness!

Good luck and congrats!

Definitely not a waste of money. Are there downsides? Yeah, just like any life-changing surgery... but it's definitely for the better. I don't regret having my RNY done.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
