Surgery on Monday the 6th

Recommended Posts

Hey my name is Bryce I'm having Gastric Bypass on July 6th two days. I'm excited and anxious not really nervous but just a relaxed feeling like finally I can get my life back. Is there anything I should prepare for after surgery? that a lot of people go through. Also if anyone has young kids was it hard keeping up with them or picking them up and playing with them? My daughter is 7 months tomorrow

Hi Bryce - welcome & congratulations on your new life beginning tomorrow! I had RNY in November. They told me not to lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for the first couple of weeks, so you might need someone to help you with your little one. Have a variety of fluids to drink - such as Crystal Light, herbal tea, sugar free popsicles & Jello, etc since getting in your liquids will be the most important thing for the first few days. Try to relax and just go with the flow - the first few days are the hardest then it gets remarkably easier each day after that!

Mine isn't until the 29th, but some of the things I have ready are broth, Miralax and milk of magnesia, gas x strips, Chapstick, my Vitamins, Protein shakes, hydro flasks to keep my Water chilly and my broth hot (I love these), crystal light, unflavored Protein, slippers and robe, neck pillow. There's more but I can't remember now. I'm big on preparation so I'm sure I'll end up with much more than I need. But better too much than too little.

Good luck on your surgery and keep that calm frame of mind. You'll do great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
