Being on a pre op diet on the 4th of July sucks but...

Recommended Posts

I keep trying to remind myself of all the reasons I am doing this in the first place. Anybody else struggling today? I think I need to stay off FB because SO MANY BBQ PHOTOS!

Hey Girlonfire

My surgery is 7/8/15. I'm on the East coast- weather is iffy so not really missing the fun. I did decide not to go to any parties though. Day 5 of the pre-surgery diet. Felt a bit hungry but hanging in.

Almost 8 weeks out here and every holiday is different so far. Surgery May 15th so on soft foods Memorial Day. Regular foods today but no bread, Pasta, rice, etc makes it a challenge. I just remind myself I am grateful for the surgery and the changes to my life. I don'[t think July 4th will be as big a challenge as Thanksgiving and Christmas, will have to see. I agree to stay away from the pics that are just reminders and next year will be easier. Next year you will be close to or at your goal weight, how amazing will that be? That will be a whole new reason to Celebrate YOUR independence! Good luck!! :)

Mine is on monday...its raining here too in Louisiana. I don't like fireworks so the only thing I am missing is the food and gatherings...oh well. Onward and upward! Next year I'll feel nice and cool in my shorts and sleeveless shirts :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
