I've been having a few Trader Joe's Original Savory Thin Mini Crackers alongside my tuna salad or guacamole. They're light, thin and small. Really pretty good with a satisfying crunch!

Your plan may be different than mine. Below is what I was instructed by my dietician.

In weight loss phase low carb high Protein meals. After a 75% weight loss I could add healthy carbs. Plant based and whole wheat.

Whole wheat Pasta

Sweet potatoes and regular potatoes

Whole wheat breads

This is a photo of a bariatric plate. It helped me with proportions.

I haven't eaten crackers, bread, rice, or Pasta since September. My Bariatric Eating plan is to stay away from starches, like crackers, until I reach maintenance. Even though I am in maintenance now, I still won't eat such foods in fear of gaining weight.

Jenn1, do you still eat the same portion sizes now that you are in maintenance? My portion sizes are almost double the ones depicted on the plate graphic. I don't have as much restriction as most, so I just make smart food choices. Instead of adding a starch to my meal, I just double my vegetable or fruit serving. I'm not sure if this is recommended, but what is the big deal if it doesn't cause me to gain weight?

Personally, at only 4 weeks post-op I never would've (and didn't) eat any crackers. Didn't do that until about 7-8 months out.

All crackers are just slider foods. Although some are worse than others, none of them fill you up and, without any Protein in the meal, are just highly processed carbohydrates that just make you crave more of them.

One woman's opinion.

This is not a big deal at all. Its all a balance. What works for me might not work for someone else. Eating changes quit a bit in maintenance phase. The above post was for members in weight loss mode.

I definitely do not eat as the above weight loss instructions. My calories and proportions have increased. And I do eat 6 meals a day to fuel my fitness level.

My nutritionist had Tricuits and wheat thins on the list for soft food phase. They break down differently than regular crackers. I tried the 100% whole grain wheat thins and they were great, had great flavor and are very small. A serving size is 15 crackers but I usually eat them with a tsp of Peanut Butter so I only eat 7. For me I do want to stay away from breads and Pasta but the crunch of these crackers is very satisfying.

My surgeon says no bread or crackers for the first six months.

Since all of our answers are different, what does YOUR surgeon say?

I would talk to your surgeon about this. All plans are different, obviously. My surgeon says that until I lose 75% of my excess weight, I'm to have no carbs, except for vegetable based carbs.....and even then, only 5 per meal.....15 per day is my max.

I also am not allowed Pasta, bread, etc. until that point.

I strongly suggest you speak to your surgeon and follow his/her plan.

I occasionally have a few of these. At Walmart they are in the deli/produce area.

I went for rice crackers (Nuthins, I think) as a first cracker. Get a lot of crunch with less carbs and less swelling up in my tummy. Still prefer rice crackers. Today I prefer Mary's Gone crackers, but wouldn't try those till you've been cleared for seeds and nuts.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
