Does this only happen if you over eat? Or eat something you shouldn't? It sounds God awful!

no....I do not eat much anyway, especially as the day goes on. I cannot say I have overeaten...it is not possible for me to get that much solid food in. i still utilize liquids mostly. egg whites in the morning. I concur with a previous member's post about the terrible feeling of food being stuck in the esophagus....it just sits there until I vomit. I see my GI MD next week and I am just 3 years out (7-27-12). sometimes I will try a solid and it stays down but hurts and I am always nauseous - the next time I try that same food, I vomit. I never know. I pretty much do not try to eat in public.

I was 6 years out and had a revision roux n y on June 8. I threw up all the time. Come to find out my previous doctor left a not needed piece of intestine called a blind loop. food was going to my new stomach and to this intestine and creating bacteria. I also had a hiatal hernia. If it wasn't for the strictures I would feel great. I am very great full my new doctor took the time to solve the problem.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
