Do you have your stride set correctly, if it's using to short of a stride length it may read more steps than it should.

It's somewhere in your settings online, Go to setting and then to personal info, it's below your height in body info.

I would love to add people but I have no idea how. If someone could tell me that would be great

Open your fitbit app on your phone and click on friends at the bottom. Click the plus sign and just add people by their email addresses.

I also just got my Fitbit today. Please feel free to add.
