  1. Today I happened to check my BMI (which is a bit of a joke anyways) and I have finally moved from the obese range into overweight! I don't think j would have believed anyone if they would have told me that I would lose 80 pounds in less than 7 months! This surgery has been one of my biggest blessings!
  2. So...it's 1:24 a.m. and it's a warm August night here in Oklahoma and I literally cannot sleep because I'm freezing!!! So I made this and thought I would share and see who all can relate!
  3. First off, this stall just happens. The best thing you can do is make sure you are getting your protein, water and supplements in. Not getting enough protein and water can affect weight loss. Then, just trust the process. When I hit my stall at that time, I went weighing every day to once a week. I tend to stall every few weeks now and the stall May last a week or two, but then I feel like I'm losing inches during that time, even though the scale isn't moving.

    Dizzy/light-headed

I had this problem after surgery as well, about the same time frame as you. I just wasn't getting enough water in and for a few days I really pushed getting my water in over calories. When your stomach is still swollen it seems like we either get water in for the day or protein, very hard to get both!

    Working out

I'm 4 months out and still haven't started exercising consistently. I'm just now starting to walk 3 miles a day and I just signed up for a 5k in December. I have a bone fracture in my foot I've been dealing with since before my surgery and now that I've lost 60 pounds I'm able to walk for exercise without as much foot pain.

    hair fall

I am 4 months out and have been shedding like crazy!! Seriously, hand fulls of my hair fall out!! Thankfully I have extra thick hair but it is getting thinner! I have started taking Biotin to help with the re-growth rate. Like others have said...the weight loss is worth it. 58 pounds in 4 months is worth it to me and I'm just dealing with the temporary hair loss.
  8. You'll do great!! Everyone's experience is different...I woke up with major gas pain but my friend had the same surgery and had none! So if you wake up with pain, just remember the best thing you can do is walk, walk, walk!! The couple of days of pain is so worth it!!
  9. Sometimes after taking a bite I would have to get up and walk around..just like I had to walk at the hospital. Remember to take small bites, very small bites and don't use a straw. Walking will probably be your best friend!
  10. I really had no incisional pain at all. I woke up from surgery with horrible pain from the gas!! I walked the hallways which really helped but be prepared for some pain. I have a high pain tolerance so I was very surprised to have the gas pain like I did. The gas pain was certainly worth it though!!! So don't let it scare you away!! It only lasted a few days in my case.

@nylaj...I started at 240 and I'm at 182 now! I've had my share of stalls too where there were one or two weeks where the scale didn't budge! But I learned to be patient with the process and my body and eventually I started losing again. I'm almost 60 pounds down and people are finally starting to notice a difference!! I'm excited for you and your upcoming journey!!

    Over drinking

I remember having that feeling about a month after surgery as well and was worried! Someone on this forum mentioned that it was more than likely my body telling me I need water. So I started drinking water when I felt that and that worked for me.

Oops...my favorite blender is my Vitamix! I don't think you need one to be successful but it has been fun to play around with different Soups and smoothies I can make in it. My favorite drink is definitely unsweet iced tea. I love Water but unsweet tea is a welcome change! I bought a food scale but ditched it pretty early on as my stomach was pretty good about letting me know when to stop. At first I used a salad size plate (well, right after I used a ramekin) at home but now at 4 months out It doesn't matter much to me what size plate I have. Good Luck with your surgery!! I am almost 4 months out and am 58 pounds down! I've gone from a size 20 to a size 12. Best decision I've ever made for myself!

I love the EAS Advantage low carb protein drinks! I eat a lot of roasted chicken and grilled shrimp. I also eat a lot of greek yogurt. I love Colby Jack Cheese cut into squares. I can eat 3-4 squares of that with 2 or 3 ritz crackers. I find that with most of my meals I am really focused on the protein part. I don't mind having a little potato salad, etc on the side because I am good about eating my protein first and then maybe one or two small bites of a side.
  15. Hi friends! I was sleeved on March 25, 2015 and have lost a total of 47 pounds. So many people that I know that have had their surgery after me have lost more than me. I am following everything to the letter. I am down to 193 pounds and am so happy but I have been sitting there for a couple of weeks! It seems like I will blow through 7 pounds or so, but when I get close to getting out of one number I stall. For example, if I'm 210 I get down to 203 easily but then when I hit 203, I stall for awhile before I start losing again and get into the 190's etc. Does anyone else have this issue or does anyone have any advice? Thank You!
  16. Thank you for the responses! I always worry when I stalk that I'm doing something wrong and causing the stall! I'm so happy with the 47 pound loss, I'm just always worried when I stall I won't lose anymore! I'm putting my scale up for a week and just trusting the process!!
  17. Surgery date 3/25/15 240 down to 199.5! Have gone from size 20 to size 14 and 1x shirt to L! Love it!!!!!
  18. I arrived in onederland today!!! I was home by myself and screamed "I'm in onederland!!!!" Then I was scared because I screamed so loud, ha!
  19. Last night at my son's baseball practice I sat on the ground and then popped back up when I was ready to get it up! It's the little things!

    Second 5k

Hello!! What week after your surgery did you start training and can you share how you trained? I so want to do this!!!
  21. Hello! I am 6 weeks post VSG. I've lost 20 pounds since surgery and 35 all together with my pre-op diet. I'm just wondering how many calories I should be aiming for daily? My nutritionist doesn't like to talk calorie intake at this stage but I'm afraid I'm not eating enough and that's why my weight loss has slowed. So any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!!!
  22. No, I'm really struggling with that, I just get full so fast. It seems like if I get my protein in then I don't get my water in or vice-versa. Do you have any strategies that could help?
