Breakfast is a no go.....

Recommended Posts

I have been banded for 7 years and in this whole time, Breakfast is a no go. Best I can manage is a smoothie mid morning - usually after 10am. I am soooooo bored of smoothies!!!!! I would love to eat an egg, or some bacon, anything really, but any attempt means it comes back up shortly after. Sometimes I can manage a couple crackers with some soft cheese or a couple bites of a granola bar, but not a good Protein source. Even yogurt is a no go. Any suggestions??? My band is good. I was formerly way too restricted and now that I am a bit more open, I am able to manage better options for lunch and dinner without things backing up or coming up, but mornings are bad. Even juice is tiny little sips over about an hour or more......

You're not alone....been banded 4-1/2 years, and have not had breakfast in all that time. It's just the way it is....cannot eat anything solid in the morning. Even my smoothies and my morning coffees go down slow and "Gurgle"

I invested in a good blender, and make smoothies also....it is 40 gm of Protein, so it is a good healthy way to start the day....I don't think I could possibly eat anything in any quantity to match the nutritional values.

I don't mind.....the traditional breakfast stuff is not for me anyway, I cannot see myself eating omelets, etc...I like being lite on my feet......and I am very happy with my bands performance and the new life it has given me.

Would not want to revert back to anywhere near to where I was before WLS, so I simply accept it.

I have many friends, who have not been banded, that live by morning smoothies also.

The health club (gym) I go to, along with their restaurant, also has a juice bar that makes fresh smoothies and juices....

It really is very healthy and good for you.

Right now, it;s 5 am, and I am having a very simple coffee drink with protein and a little half and half added....plus a little ice.

Very good.

I am in agreement from my personal experience. Breakfast is not enjoyable or even wanted. A simple bar or Protein Drink around 11-12 works well for the am

After my work day I either work out or finish errands and I get hungry around 4. Time to get some good Protein and Fiber. Water is still a work in progress for me. But I try daily

I guess that says a bit. I TRY DAILY

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
