Home from the hospital!

Recommended Posts

I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery on Tuesday, June 23rd (one month after my 53rd birthday).

Everything went well. My surgeon said he repaired a small hiatal hernia while he was in there. All in all I feel pretty good. The only real pain is when I'm going from a sitting position to standing, or from a standing position to sitting.

No nausea, no vomiting, and I'm doing pretty well on my liquids. The staff at the hospital was great, and my husband could not be more supportive.

I remember there were several other people scheduled for the same day as I was. I hope all of you are doing well!

Welcome home! Take it easy and sleep lots tonight! I set an alarm and woke up every 4 hours to take pain meds - just in case - for the first night. Didn't need it at night after that but did use it during the day. The sitting up thing lasts probably 1 or 2 weeks but gets easier every day! Congrats and get in that water! Set a timer for every 5 minutes and sip from a 1 oz medicine cup. (Its the only way I got mine down - even did this with my Protein shakes.) Target 4 oz every hour for the first week. Gets much easier after the first week.

That is such great news. Best of luck on your journey. You are going to be amazed. Take it easy, rest, the pain of getting up and down is only temporary. Walk and keep moving. Drink and get your Protein. One day at a time. Congratulations

Sleeved june 23rd also! Evening before I was very nervous asking myself what have I gotten myself into. But then remembered why I am doing this. Had surgery at 9:30 in am made sure anesthesiologist gave me nausea meds before anesthesia. Woke up hurting keep on pain injections through that day and night. Move me 2 pain pills day two. First two nights were hard to get sleep. Night 2 a little nausea. Did all my walking in hospital. Now I am home today and trying to get into a new routine for fluids, Protein Shakes, and new meds I have to take for a month. Took first shower today felt so good!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
