Hello! I was sleeved on 6/10/15 and had a BMI of 55.1. Since the sleeve, I have dropped about 21 pounds or so in 9 days? Likely mostly Water weight, but I'm loosing a couple pounds a day. I would love to hear from people who are further out than I and started with high BMI's like me! It seems a lot of people on the forums had between 30 and 40 BMI's.

I too noticed most people had lower BMI than me and I was just curious to hear from those with a higher BMI. Your doing great! I can't wait to start my journey!

I am a high BMI sleever. I was sleeved April 20 and my BMI was literally off the charts (they had to calculate it by hand).

My high weight was 565. My surgery weight was 535 and I am about 453 right now (I don't weigh very often).

I am 5'2" and was 320 on my surgery date of 2/10/15 with a BMI of 58.5. I have lost 65 lbs and am now at 255, with BMI of 46.6. I have felt like my weight loss has been slow, but I had my 3 month follow up this past week (at 4 months) and the doc said a loss between 30-40% of the excess weight was right on targer

My bmi was 53.1 and I've lost 86 pounds i had rny gastric bypass dec 2014. At first I was bummed it was slow but now I'm extremely happy bc it gives my skin the chance to shrink with it as it goes so I don't have alot of issues with that thankful and I hope I can keep it up i have 110 left to go till my goal.. Dr said as long as I get to 200 he would be happy but I'm pushing for 145. I'm currently at 253. Good luck and congrats on your journey

My BMI was over 60 at my highest, down almost 75 lbs now (half before surgery, half afterwards) and I am about 10 weeks out. The mantras on here about Water, Protein and exercise are true for me thus far! Thanks for this topic, it is encouraging and inspiring to hear about others' experiences.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
